Strife, oppression, and poverty are connected and often a direct result of policy stemming from a history of colonization, so its no wonder that resources are the most plentiful in the places that are the most destabilized. The late great, Patrice Lumumba’s Congo and Africa’s largest pool of resources is the poster child for this disparity.
Basic resources often never make it into the hands of its citizens, while its resources provide economic nurturing for the world’s populous. Washington, D.C based Friends of the Congo is an organization that grabbed our attention ever since we heard an interview by its spokesperson Kambale Musavuli.
A portion of our profits will go to to organization to assist in their mission to raise the consciousness of the world community on the challenges and bring about peace and lasting change.
